DNI Tulsi Gabbard’s Bombshell Report and the Drive-By Media

On MSNBC yesterday, when asked for her “thoughts and reaction” on CBS’s decision to cancel Stephen Colbert’s Late Show, and “what that might say about media in general and media in the world of a Donald Trump presidency,” former NPR CEO Vivian Schiller declared, “Yeah, well look, this has not been a great week for free speech and speaking truth to power.” An 𝕏 post by RedState contributor “Bonchie” on this (typical) MSNBC segment made a common (among conservatives) but important point. Above a video of the MSNBC clip, Bonchie concluded, “Thinking late-night comedy shows exist to ‘speak truth to power’ is why people hate the press.”

Of course, there are many reasons to hate the drive-by media, and Bonchie provides another good example, but there was a better and more important one this weekend. Trending number one on 𝕏 most of the weekend was the name “Tulsi.” Trending number two was the word “treason.” (The screenshots below were taken yesterday evening around 8 pm.)

(Click on the images to enlarge them.)

This happened as the result DNI Tulsi Gabbard’s Friday afternoon release of her bombshell report on how “intelligence was politicized and weaponized by the most powerful people in the Obama Administration to lay the groundwork for what was essentially a years-long coup against President [Donald Trump].” “Tulsi” and “treason” trending so high on 𝕏 is significant for obvious reasons (it’s a massively important story), but it’s also important because Elon Musk’s 𝕏 is now the number one source for news, at least according to its owner.

If 𝕏 is not the number one source for news, it is at least a significant news source for tens-of-millions of Americans. More Americans now get their news via social media than any other source. This is huge for a variety of reasons, but one in particular: by definition, social media is user-generated content, and thus virtually anyone can participate in reporting, commentary, etc.

Additionally, thanks to Elon Musk’s takeover of 𝕏 and his dedication to free speech, and Mark Zuckerberg’s recent changes to “content moderation” (censorship) at Meta, social media is now not so dominated by one particular viewpoint. In other words, the left in America no longer has a stranglehold on the news.

Nevertheless, leftwing news sources still attempt to act as the arbiter of what is newsworthy. The best recent example of this is DNI Tulsi Gabbard’s release of her report this past Friday afternoon. In spite of how significant is this story, and in spite of how it the story was trending on 𝕏 (and no-doubt other social media), the drive-by media virtually ignored the story, at least through late Saturday evening (the time of this writing).

Below are screenshots of the websites of NBC News, CBS News, ABC News, CNN, The New York Times, MSNBC, AP News, and USA Today from about 8 pm yesterday (Saturday, July 19). Each screenshot is of the very top of each webpage. (Click on the images to enlarge them.)

As one can easily see, DNI Gabbard’s shocking report was given no significant attention by any of these so-called “news organizations.” Not only was there “no significant attention” given by these organizations of Gabbard’s report, as I scrolled down the webpages, I couldn’t find one single mention of the story except for a single article by CNN.

On the other hand, most of Saturday (July 19), Fox News prominently displayed the story “DNI Gabbard refers Obama's Russia hoax documents to DOJ after bombshell report.” And the top piece at Real Clear Politics on Saturday was “Russia Hoax Exposed, New Era of Accountability Begins” by Matt Taibbi at Racket News.

Thus, again we see why so many Americans despise the drive-by media, and why so many of us are simply tuning them out and turning them off.

Remember When the Democrats Rioted?

After a crowd of protestors stormed the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, which led to the death of Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt, there has been a chorus of calls for the removal of President Trump via the 25th Amendment or another impeachment. Whatever one thinks of Trump’s rhetoric and the protests and violence on January 6, it pales in comparison to what we’ve seen from Democrats and their viciously violent supporters.

To prove this, we don’t have to go back to Obama and Ferguson, Missouri or “Get up and get in their faces;” or, “If they bring a knife, you bring a gun;” or, “We will reward our friends and punish our enemies.” We don’t have to go back to President Trump’s 2016 victory over Hillary Clinton.

We don’t even have to go back to the Brett Kavanaugh hearings, when a pro-abortion mob—otherwise known as a “death cult”—invaded the U.S. Capitol, threatened to “shut it down” as they were “fired up” by Democrat Senator Elizabeth Warren, violently banged on the doors of the Supreme Court, occupied the Hart Senate Office Building, and accosted multiple U.S. Senators. All we have to do is look back at 2020.

Throughout 2020, for months on end, in dozens of American cities, numerous mobs involving hundreds-of-thousands of left-wing thugs devoted to the Democrat Party and its policies, rioted, burned, looted, and murdered. The images below remind us of this carnage:

As a result of this rampant lawlessness, dozens of innocent Americans were murdered—including several police officers—hundreds of police officers were significantly injured, and billions of dollars of U.S. property—often minority-owned small businesses—was destroyed. The property destruction was the “most costly manmade damage to American property” in U.S. history.

In spite of all of this, as they have done for years, whether through their silence or direct words, Democrat politicians across America, along with their apologists in the left-wing media, encouraged and enabled this evil. House Democrats blocked a resolution that condemned the rioting and looting, and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris helped raise bail money for the many criminals arrested throughout the riots.

In addition, as John Hinderaker at Powerline points out, Kamala Harris also had this to say about the Democrat’s 2020 riots:

They’re not going to stop. They’re not going to stop. This is a movement, I’m telling you. They’re not gonna stop. And everyone beware because they’re not gonna stop. They’re not gonna stop before Election Day and they’re not going to stop after Election Day. And everyone should take note of that. They’re not gonna let up and they should not.

In other words, Democrat fingerprints were all over the 2020 riots that plagued America. And—unless they were concerned about how the riots might be helping President Trump politically—the media simply didn’t care.

The Stunning Deceit and Ignorance of the “Champions of Science”

Time and again the American left—led by the mainstream media, Hollywood elite, and the Democrat Party—lectures us about the ignorance of conservatives, Christians, and anyone else who isn’t devoted to a “progressive” (amazing how regressive is “progressivism”) worldview. With their talk shows, columns, commercials, movies, sitcoms, roundtables, protests, Facebook posts, tweets, and the like, liberals unashamedly, repeatedly, and without hesitation (and often without much thought) denigrate those with whom they disagree. Yet, time and again, as they preach their philosophy and live out their “faith,” it is liberals who are stubbornly hindered by the facts of science and morality.

Examples abound, but a recent case in point is President Obama’s final address to the U.S. military. After attempting to disguise his foreign policy failures with the accomplishments of our “remarkable Special Forces,” and rightfully touting the love, patriotism, and sacrifice of our Gold Star families, Obama declared,
Our Navy is the largest and most lethal in the world, on track to surpass 300 ships. Our Air Force, with its precision and reach, is unmatched. Our Marine Corps is the world's only truly expeditionary force. Our Coast Guard is the finest in the world. And we're also the best because this military has come to welcome the talents of more of our fellow Americans. Service members can now serve the country they love without hiding who they are…And Joe Biden and I know that women are at least as strong as men. We're stronger for it. It's one of the reasons that our military stands apart as the most respected institution in our nation by a mile. (Emphasis mine.)
In his lust to promote liberal dogma on sex and sexuality, tragically, President Obama has often used the U.S. military as a tool to practice and promote his perverse social re-engineering. I try to avoid using “stupid” when it comes to my criticism of liberals and liberalism, but the first sentence highlighted above leaves me no choice. There’s no other way to describe the statement—especially when discussing our military—“women are as least as strong as men.”

I suppose one could argue Obama meant it in a non-physical, “fighting spirit” sort-of sense, but that does not fly with his recent efforts and the efforts of his administration when it comes to the role of women in the military. In January of 2013, after Obama’s Joint Chiefs of Staff gave him the unanimous decision that he almost certainly expected when it comes to American women and U.S. military combat operations, the long-held Combat Exclusion Policy was lifted and U.S. women became eligible for front-line combat operations.

In December of 2015, in what The New York Times hailed as “a historic transformation of the American military,” Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter announced that the Pentagon would open all combat jobs to women. Carter proudly and foolishly announced,
There will be no exceptions. They’ll be allowed to drive tanks, fire mortars and lead infantry soldiers into combat. They’ll be able to serve as Army Rangers and Green Berets, Navy SEALs, Marine Corps infantry, Air Force parajumpers and everything else that was previously open only to men.
As Iraq veteran, Harvard Law School graduate, and Bronze Star winner David French noted a few months prior to Secretary Carter’s announcement, such thinking is intellectually corrupt and “idiotic.” As I noted last year, comparing male and female athletes, “in spite of the efforts of liberals, there will never be ‘gender equality’ when it comes to [men and women], because human genders are not—and will never be—equal. Men are bigger, faster, and stronger than women…What’s more, as most anyone not devoted to a liberal worldview who’s observed human beings for at least 15 minutes was already aware, men are naturally more physically aggressive than are women.” As Psychology Today points out:
The fact that males are more aggressive and more violent is reflected by their anatomy itself; in many animals species they are heavier, more muscular, better armed with means of attack and defense. In humans, for example, the arms of men are, on average, 75 percent more muscular than those of women; and the top of a male body is 90 percent stronger that the top of a female body [Bohannon, 1997; Abe et al., 2003, apud Goetz, 2010, p. 16]. Also, men are taller, they have denser and heavier bones, their jaw is more massive, their reaction time is shorter, their visual acuity is better, their muscle/fat ratio is greater, their heart is bulkier, their percentage of hemoglobin is higher, their skin is thicker, their lungs bigger, their resistance to dehydration is higher etc. In other words, from all points of view, men are more suited for battle than women, and these skills are native.
What’s more, “The average man is stronger than 99.9% of women (Lassek & Gaulin, 2009). Men also have about 65% greater lower body strength (Lassek and Gaulin, 2009, Mayhew and Salm, 1990), over 45% higher vertical leap, and over 22% faster sprint times (Mayhew & Salm, 1990).” And as Mike Fredenburg points out,
Men’s blood carries 10 to 12 percent more oxygen per liter than does women’s…Pound for pound, men have thicker skulls, bigger, stronger necks, hearts that are 17 percent larger, and bones that are both bigger and denser…When confronted with immediate danger, studies suggest men are “more likely than women to take action.” Women are far more likely to experience motion sickness and vertigo. In the Navy women go on sick call 60 to 70 percent more frequently. For the kind of violent events and situations found on the battlefield, women are far more likely to develop post-traumatic stress disorder and experience the symptoms for a longer duration than men. Despite the gender-specific ability to handle the pain of childbirth, “study after study” conclusively shows that men have a much higher overall tolerance for pain than women.
Of course, none of this information is new, and did anyone at the highest levels of our government and military really need rigorous academic research to understand such? But this is what happens when liberalism corrupts.

The Boy Scouts of America has been similarly corrupted, and the ignorance is just as stunning. Three and a half years ago, in June of 2013, when the Boy Scouts of America decided to allow young homosexuals into their ranks, I warned:
[H]ow long will it be before the Boy Scouts are again in court? This time it will be a couple (probably same-sex) who wants their young girl—who has decided that she wants to be a boy—in the name of “tolerance” to be able to join the Boy Scouts. However, the fight won’t last 23 years in this case. After all, the next moral compromise will be easier than the previous one.
Two years later, in May of 2015, I was none too surprised to note that it was the Girl Scouts of America who were the first to capitulate to the transgender wing of the LGBT agenda. However, as I feared, the Boy Scouts (Cub Scouts) are now in the national news because they have kicked a New Jersey girl out of a Cub Scout troop because—of course—she’s not a boy.

Only a mind corrupted by liberalism could promote the notion that a human being can simply choose his or her gender. Do I really need to present data here on what makes one a male or a female? Since at least the 1970s, when among other things, feminazi Gloria Allred sued the Sav-On drugstore chain for daring to label its toy section “Boys’ Toys” and “Girls’ Toys,” liberals have attempted to sell the lie that the only differences between boys and girls—aside from the obvious biological ones—were the result of “patriarchal cultural biases.”

As psychologist, author, and renowned family expert Dr. James Dobson put it in his excellent book, Bringing Up Boys, the ultimate goal of the feminists and homosexual activists is to “dissolve the traditional roles of mothers and fathers and, in time, eliminate such terms as wife, husband, son, daughter, sister, brother, manhood, womanhood, boy, girl, masculine, and feminine.” And as the former psychiatrist-in-chief of Johns Hopkins Hospital recently noted, transgenderism is “a mental disorder that deserves understanding, treatment and prevention.” Dr. Paul McHugh notes, not treating transgender disorder properly “can lead to grim psychological outcomes.”

Blind to the notion that some things are settled for all-time, once liberals began to insist we debate what is marriage, we should not have been surprised that they would want to debate what is a male and what is a female—or any other long-held, long-settled matter that conflicts with modern liberal orthodoxy in the sexual realm.

Few things in the modern era motivate liberals to ignore sound science and morality more than their desire to do whatever they wish sexually. Nothing illustrates this better than the debate that surrounds the homosexual agenda. In addition to the clear teaching of virtually every western religion on homosexuality, science has long revealed the dangers of a homosexual lifestyle. Yet liberals persist—passionately and angrily—in denying these truths when challenged in any way in this matter. Gospel singing legend Kim Burrell is the latest victim on this front in the left’s war on the truth. After the gospel singer dared to preach the Gospel on homosexuality, liberal McCarthyists went on the attack. A scheduled appearance by Burrell on the TV show Ellen was cancelled. Texas Southern University cancelled Burrell’s radio show on their station, KTSU. And of course, the liberal media was quick to label Burrell a “bigot.”

All of this, and I’ve made no mention of the propaganda, threats, lies, and the like from the left in the climate debate, or the propaganda, threats, lies, and the like from the left in the abortion debate. In spite of their arrogant self-promotion as champions of science, liberals are behind the greatest lies of our era.

BREAKING: U.S. Military Now to Allow Service of Big Red Birds with Fuzzy Pink Feet

I suppose there's only one thing now to decide: is liberalism, as Michael Savage told us a decade ago, a mental disorder, or as Tom Trinko at American Thinker recently concluded, evil to the core?

Seemingly never tired of "struggling against reality," the Obama administration Pentagon has decided to allow "transgenders" to openly serve in the U.S. military. At a press conference today, Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter said,
I'm announcing today that we're ending the ban on transgender Americans in the United States military. Effective immediately, transgender Americans may serve openly, and they can no longer be discharged or otherwise separated from the military just for being transgender.
Poor Max Klinger would've been devastated, as would have the television executives at CBS. For the first seven seasons of the legendary TV show M*A*S*H*, CBS garnered millions of laughs from Americans who watched Corporal Max Klinger dress up as a woman in a silly attempt to garner a "Section 8" and a discharge from the U.S. Army. Leave it to the Obama administration to undermine one of the greatest television shows of all time.

Oh well, at least M*A*S*H* provides us with an opportunity. In its desire to accommodate all things perverse, and in order to make transgenders feel more comfortable, I'm sure the Obama administration would not object to new military dress for soldiers who wish to carry on in the Max Klinger tradition. Thus, using Klinger as inspiration, I've come up with new uniforms for the U.S. Army. (The other branches of the military can do their own Google search.)

For a combat uniform, here are three options:

The purse accessory in the middle option could be used to carry extra ammunition, supplies, and so on. The large cover in the uniform on the right might prove more useful in desert combat situations.

For formal affairs, there is Army Service Uniform. Fortunately, Klinger was not shy about sporting dressier outfits.

Note all ensembles come with a cover, with the center and the right option also coming with a jacket. The umbrella in the first outfit also doubles as a weapon to use against those not properly progressive enough when it comes to the practice of men dressing as women, and vice versa.

Of course, we need even our trans-troops to remain in top physical condition. (They have to be able to run in heels, right?) Thus, we must provide them with a physical training uniform.

Note the flexibility allowed by the first uniform. The catcher's mitt is not standard issue. The middle option is for those soldiers who wish to perform physical training as a famous female movie character. (I mean, if we're going to allow for fantasy...) Again, Dorothy's picnic basket is non-issue. Option three has the advantage of doubling as a tent.

Klinger was so diversified in his attempts to get out of the Army that he provides us with literally hundreds of additional options should the need arise. There's his maternity line:

Though, as Colonel Blake did point out in this episode, in his condition, Klinger should not be smoking. However, I'm sure the Obama-led Army will soon allow (at taxpayer expense of course) Planned Parenthood personnel on all military bases and outposts in order to remedy such unfortunate incidents.

There's the wedding line:

The patriotic line (for when important dignitaries are on base):

And lastly, the escape line, for when our trans-troops decide it's time to go AWOL:

Once airborne, it's foolproof, as from the ground one will appear as a big red bird, with fuzzy pink feet.

Radical Islam Again Terrorizes America (UPDATE #3)

As the death toll is now at 50 (with dozens more injured), the Islamic terrorism that struck Orlando, Florida a few hours after midnight this morning is the third-worst terror attack (behind 9/11 and Oklahoma City) on U.S. soil. The shooter has been identified as 29-year-old Islamist, Omar Mateen from Fort Pierce, Florida. Reportedly, Mateen entered the homosexual nightclub Pulse just after 2 a.m. armed with multiple guns, including an AR-15. Just before he started his slaughter, Mateen called 911 to pledge allegiance to ISIS.

Nevertheless, liberal leaders in the U.S. continue to have their heads in the sand when it comes to Islam, violence, and terrorism. This morning, Democrat presidential candidate Bernie Sanders told Meet the Press that the real culprit in the Orlando attack is the lack of gun control. Thus the mantra of the left in these atrocities continues: ignore Islam and blame guns.

When first speaking on camera of the Orlando massacre, radical liberal, Congressman Alan Grayson, whose district includes the Orlando area, refused to mention Islam.

During his press conference this afternoon on the Orlando atrocity, President Obama also refused to mention anything about Islam. In spite of the evidence, Obama said that his administration had reached "no definitive judgment" on the motivations of the terrorist. He did of course continue to blame the gun culture in America for this type of violence.

Moments after Obama's press conference, ISIS claimed responsibility for the Orlando massacre. How sad the leader of the free world refused to state the obvious, and moments later our enemies had to set him straight.

Let me again make an important distinction here: radical Christians want to guard the sanctity of marriage, call homosexuality the sin that it is, and help those who are struggling with sexual sin find hope and healing. Radical Islamists want to murder homosexuals and other such "infidels." (See: Radical Christianity vs. Radical Islam.) As many will highlight this as an attack on the homosexual community, another distinction is important here: Remember that, for years now ISIS has been slaughtering Christians all over the world. Thousands have been murdered and the Obama administration had to be begged to call such slaughter the genocide that it is.

Let us pray for all of those in Orlando whose hearts are broken at the loss of their loved ones. Let us pray for our national leaders to see this world through the wisdom of God's eternal truths. Let us pray for those who are deceived by the enemy of all of humanity. And let us pray that God's Kingdom would come, and that His will would be done.

UPDATE: In April of this year, speaking on "women's issues" at an Orlando-area mosque--the Husseini Islamic Center--a radical imam from Iran said that the "compassionate" thing to do for homosexuals was to kill them. "Death is the sentence," said Sheikh Farrokh Sekaleshfar, later adding, "Out of compassion, let's get rid of them now." Tellingly, off-camera, one of the members of the mosque told a reporter that Sekaleshfar's words were "well received and not particularly controversial."

How likely is it that Mateen was a member of, or at least attended, this mosque?

Also telling, note that the words (from the video) of the representative of the "Interfaith Council of Central Florida," the "Rev." Bryan Fulwider:

"These issues around homosexuality and the decrying of it or denouncing of it by religion takes away, often, from our really important task of helping our community be a better community."

This is the typical liberal drivel when it comes to Islam. Note his use of the word "religion," and--like Obama--his avoidance of any reference to Islam. Obviously he is wanting to link Christians who consider homosexuality a sin with Muslims who want to kill homosexuals and other such "infidels." In other words, never mind the facts, liberals want to further their narrative on Christianity so they can further their political objectives when it comes to the homosexual agenda. (A personal note to "Rev." Fulwider: You're never going to help your community by refusing to see sin for what it is.)

Also, reports out now reveal that Mateen's terror act is another example of a "known wolf" attack. The Daily Caller is reporting that the FBI opened files on Mateen in 2013 and 2014. The question that must be asked by the media: Was the investigation of Mateen shut down because of Obama administration political correctness?

UPDATE 2: One important way that the Christian community--or those like-minded--can be the hands and feet of Jesus in this (or future similar) incident(s): give blood. Because of their lifestyle choices, and the risk of the spread of disease, those sexually active in the homosexual community are not eligible to give blood.

UPDATE 3: I just got word of this today, and it comes as no surprise. Chick-fil-A again illustrates what it means to be the hands and feet of Jesus. While hundreds stood in line to donate blood for the hospitalized victims of the radical Islamic terrorism that struck Orlando early Sunday morning, the Orlando-area Chick-fil-A--normally closed on Sundays--called in its employees to serve their famous chicken fillets and iced tea--free of charge--to the blood donors and first responders who answered the call for the Orlando victims. A Chick-fil-A spokesman declared, "While we have a corporate policy that firmly states we are closed for business on Sundays, there have been rare cases that move our local operators to respond with food donations to help communities in need. The events in Orlando stirred our local restaurant owners and their teams to band together to provide nourishment to first responders as well as volunteers who donated blood."

Obama: King of the Nerds

How many nerds does it take to prop up a fledgling regime? Answer: I don't know, but the geniuses at Vox probably have the answer. This is especially the case since they've had so much practice with the Obama administration.

In case you haven't heard, Vox and Obama are really impressed with one another. Vox recently had a "conversation" with President Obama on "his theory of America's political and policy problems as it stands at the beginning of the seventh year of his presidency." At some point during the interview, Obama flatters Vox's Ezra Klein with the conclusion, "You guys are, I guess, for the brainiac-nerd types."

Of course, what better setting is there than Vox for the smartest man ever to be President of the United States?

During the foreign policy portion of the interview, Obama revealed his vast intelligence by concluding the obvious: "We don't have military solutions to every problem in the 21st century." After such a discerning statement, Vox's Matthew Yglesias, who conducted the foreign policy part of interview, was so impressed that he later tweeted: "A simple, but profound and important insight from the president."

Also, in case you haven't heard, the mission at Vox is to "Explain the News." Because, of course, it takes a special kind of genius to make the obvious seem so "profound," and to "explain" to all of us dumb yokels what is really going on in the world around us. Then again, for Yglesias, it's best that he stick with the obvious, because when he deviates from it, he tends to get himself into trouble.

I suppose this means that Brian Williams will be headed to Vox after he shamelessly (yes, shamelessly) departs NBC. This way he can better "explain" to us what really happened in that helicopter over Iraq in 2003.

Ferguson Again Erupts With Liberalism

When the news came down that the Ferguson grand jury had declined to indict police officer Darren Wilson, what ensued was sadly all too predictable. The burning, looting, shooting, and the like to "protest" unpopular police or government actions have become all too commonplace for those who are under the influence of liberalism.

As I noted in August of this year, after the surveillance video of Michael Brown robbing a convenience store was released--which set off more random acts of liberalism--Ferguson is and has been somewhat of a mess for the very same reasons virtually every other urban area in America is a mess: liberalism.

Ferguson has long been (Update, 5/17/15, as a regular commentator (Kiev) notes here, the politics of Ferguson is not quite the same as the politics of St. Louis County. Prior to the Michael Brown incident, Ferguson had a significant republican government. However, as is noted here, this is not due to some nefarious conservative plot.) dominated politically by Democrats. St. Louis County Prosecutor, Robert McCulloch, who took the evidence to the grand jury, is a Democrat. In the past election, which saw Republicans make gains all over the country at every level, Democrat County Councilman Steve Stenger won the race for St. Louis County executive. This is in spite of the perceived close ties Stenger had (and, I presume, still has) with the increasingly unpopular McCulloch.

Of course, it is exclusively liberals who are stoking the racial tensions in Ferguson. Liberals all across the U.S. are attempting to make political hay out of the grand jury's decision. President Obama again decided to interject himself into the Ferguson situation, giving veiled cover to the Ferguson rioters, saying that reacting in anger is "understandable." He also carefully managed to throw the police under the bus, calling on them to "show care and restraint" and "work with the community, not against the community," and amazingly concluded that those rioting and destroying property amounted to only "a handful of people."

Attorney General Eric Holder has declared that civil rights charges are still possible. The professional race-pimps and publicity prostitutes like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, who make their living off of situations like what is occurring in Ferguson, will almost certainly again be on the scene. Missouri State Senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal proudly declared on MSNBC that what was happening in Ferguson was "St. Louis' race war."

As Dennis Prager rightly points out, what is happening in Ferguson is not due to a racial divide, but a moral one. Of course, liberalism is rooted in moral relativism, and thus, while killing children in the womb, redefining marriage, sexual perversions of every kind imaginable, "redistribution" of wealth, and wanton destruction of other people's property can be justified, defending oneself from a violent, high-on-drugs thief is, no matter the physical evidence, an unjust act that requires vengeance. Sadly, today's liberals are all too willing to comply.

Desperate Democrats (Again) Look to the Climate

When it snows, it pours. This is especially true if you're a Democrat fighting for political relevance and the best you have is, "We just saved the planet!" (from a threat that doesn't exist) and "We made a deal with communists! (which we cannot enforce)." For Democrats, winter has come in early--and brutally--in more ways than one. After the midterm disaster suffered by Democrats, the political winter that ensued for liberals has now been accompanied by literal wintertime weather, of the record-breaking sort.

Though the calendar only reads the middle of November, much of the U.S.--as most well know, because we can see it and feel it--is experiencing snowfall and cold never-before recorded at this time of the year. The recent cold in Denver broke records that stood for nearly a century. This past Monday, St. Cloud Minnesota broke a November snowfall record that stood for well over a century.
"But this is just weather," many liberals exclaim. "The climate is much more complicated, and, just like with healthcare, your too stupid to understand the difference. So just hand over the economy to smart people like us, and we'll fix it," or so they say.

Though, how smart can one be to try and make political hay out of a global warming climate deal with communists in the middle of a record-breaking cold snap? President Obama called the climate deal he just struck with the Chinese "historic." Desperate to try and prop up the politically crippled President, his enablers and confidants in the media more than agree. Grist considers it a "game changer." Eugene Robinson's piece on the deal is entitled, "An Accord the Planet Needed."

The New York Times called the deal a "landmark agreement" and implies that Democrats focus on the climate is a "winning cause in the 2016 presidential campaign."

Do you recall the climate being a winning issue for Democrats recently? Me neither. In fact, the only Democrat facing an election right now, the embattled and abandoned Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, is ready to completely defy her party when it comes to climate politics and fully support the building of the Keystone Pipeline. Several of her Democrat colleagues in the Senate seem ready to join her.

However, just like the climate deal with China, Landrieu's efforts won't matter. The time for political courage on the Keystone Pipeline, Obamacare, and other such matters has come and gone. Just as the climate doom-and-gloom preached by liberals doesn't pass the smell (or sight, or feel) test, Landrieu's actions will be seen for what they are: political desperation. And in spite of what liberals think, Louisiana voters are smart enough to figure this out.

Election Repsonse

To borrow from Charles Krauthammer, this was not a rebuke, it was a restraining order. Many Americans simply want the Democrats to go away--far away. Many have characterized this as a rebuke of Obama, but I think it goes further than that. To a significant extent, liberalism was on trial and was found wanting. As of this writing, according to the Real Clear Politics numbers, republicans added seven seats in the U.S. Senate, with Alaska and Louisiana likely making the final result a +9 for the GOP, giving them a total of 54 Senate seats. The Republicans have added 13 seats in the House, with about a dozen races--almost all Democrat seats--still undecided. Most are projecting the Republicans to hold about 250 House seats.

Additionally, and I think certainly the most surprising outcome of the night, the GOP defied the odds and actually added to their gubernatorial total across the U.S. Wins in deep blue states such as Illinois, Massachusetts, and Maryland made such gains possible. At this point, with a couple of races yet to be called, Republicans now control 31 governor's mansions. According to Hot Air, "Republicans now control governorships and state legislatures in 24 states while Democrats control those in only 7 states."

Certainly the republicans are, minus occupying the White House, in perhaps the greatest position of political power they have ever experienced. We'll see what they do with it.

In closing, as I've implied before, whatever the outcome of any election, Christians should never be too elated or too downtrodden. Politics is a realm occupied by men and women, who will almost certainly let us down. This is not to say that Christians should not be involved in, or concerned with, politics. We most certainly should. However, we must live knowing that our hope is not in any individual or institution in this world. As S.M. Lockridge put it when it comes to the One Christians serve, "You can't impeach Him, and He's not going to resign."

Election Update

About two days out and here is the significant news on the election:

Both parties see the campaign (in the pained words of The New York Times) "tilting towards the republicans."  As Rush pointed out Friday, democrats, and their mouth pieces in the mainstream media are in a panic, so I suppose "tilting towards the republicans" is all they can bring themselves to admit at this late stage. When all your hope lies in the forces of this world, it must be very difficult to see the political horizon loom dark.

The New York Times' "election-forecasting machine" gives the republicans a 69% chance of winning the Senate. The Washington Post's "Election Lab" puts the chances of a republican controlled Senate at 94% and a republican controlled House at 99%.

Republicans are much more excited about voting, and early voting reveals this. Republicans have taken a large lead in the early voting in Colorado. Additionally, late polls in Iowa show a large lead for GOP candidate Joni Ernst. The Obama administration is on the verge of congressional election losses that are historic--the worst in over six decades.

It's so bad for the democrats that they've taken to blaming their own constituents--Mary Landrieu implies that Louisianans are sexist and racist--and launching petitions calling for the ouster of Harry Reid. What's more, republicans have made gains among women and Hispanics.

This looks to be a another midterm romp for the GOP, what they do with it, of course, remains to be seen.

Same-Sex Marriage ("Gay Marriage" for most liberals) Explained

This is a few years old (note than when this was made, Obama still "opposed" same-sex marriage), but still very good. Enjoy.

You keep our Deserter, we'll keep your Terrorists

As a teacher of mathematics, I have often (at least with more advanced/motivated students) pressed my students to understand the "why" of a proposition ("postulate" or "theorem" in mathematical terms). With the recent trade of five Taliban detainees held at Guantánamo Bay for American (I use the term loosely), Army Sgt., and accused deserter, Bowe Bergdahl, many Americans--at least those who don't swoon at the mention of "Obama"--are asking themselves "Why?" Why, especially with the midterm elections looming, would Obama o.k. the deal for a soldier who left his military outpost in Paktika Province, Afghanistan leaving a note behind that detailed his lack of support for the American mission and his desire to start a new life?

It's not just that this deal went down, but also the fanfare that the Obama administration put on announcing the deal. President Obama hailed Bergdahl's release saying that bringing home "our prisoners of war" is a "profound obligation within our military." Susan Rice, seemingly again out on another fools errand for the Obama administration, went on the Sunday talk shows declaring that Bergdahl served "with honor and distinction." Rice added that "Sergeant Bergdahl wasn’t simply a hostage; he was an American prisoner of war captured on the battlefield."

Soldiers who actually served with Bergdahl contradict both Obama and Rice. According to the New York Times:

“Yes, I’m angry,” Joshua Cornelison, a former medic in Sergeant Bergdahl’s platoon, said in an interview on Monday arranged by Republican strategists. “Everything that we did in those days was to advance the search for Bergdahl. If we were doing some mission and there was a reliable report that Bergdahl was somewhere, our orders were that we were to quit that mission and follow that report.”

Sergeant Bergdahl slipped away from his outpost, the former senior officer said, possibly on foot but more likely hiding in a contractor’s vehicle. “He didn’t walk out the gate through a checkpoint, and there was no evidence he breached the perimeter wire and left that way,” the ex-officer said.

It was not until the 9 a.m. roll call on June 30 that the 29 soldiers of Second Platoon, Blackfoot Company, learned he was gone.

“I was woken up by my platoon leader,” said Mr. Cornelison, who had gone to sleep just three hours before after serving watch from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. “Hey Doc,” his platoon leader said. “Have you seen Bergdahl?”

Platoon members said Sergeant Bergdahl, of Hailey, Idaho, was known as bookish and filled with romantic notions that some found odd.

“He wouldn’t drink beer or eat barbecue and hang out with the other 20-year-olds,” Cody Full, another member of Sergeant Bergdahl’s platoon, said in an interview on Monday also arranged by Republican strategists. “He was always in his bunk. He ordered Rosetta Stone for all the languages there, learning Dari and Arabic and Pashto.”

...

Mr. Full, then a specialist in the platoon, said he and other platoon members grew increasingly bitter at the time they were spending looking for Sergeant Bergdahl. “He had sent all his belongings home — his computer, personal items,” said Mr. Full, now 25. He said Sergeant Bergdahl used to gaze at the mountains around them and say he wondered if he could get to China from there. Other platoon members said that Sergeant Bergdahl wrote Jason Bourne-type novels in which he inserted himself as the lead character.

The anger toward Sergeant Bergdahl increased exponentially after Sept. 4, when they learned that two members of Third Platoon, which routinely went on tandem missions with Second Platoon and who they believed were also searching for Sergeant Bergdahl, had been killed in an ambush. Pfc. Matthew Martinek and Lt. Darryn Andrews, both of them friends of Mr. Cornelison, died in the ambush.

Is this just another example of the incompetence of this administration, or, like the war on fossil fuels, the war on the unborn, and the war on marriage, is the Bergdahl deal the result of perverse liberal ideology? Hopefully good conservatives will get us to the answers.

A Message to Millennials

While much is being made of the political ramifications of a recent report on Millennials from the Pew Research Center, instead of conservatives wringing our hands about what to do with these young “Spicolis,” in order to straighten them out, we need more conversation about how we have gotten here. Also, Millennials need a clear understanding of the political choices that they face.

There is much to address with the generation that, more than any other, is responsible for electing Barack Obama leader of the free world—twice. Sadly, this is the case for Millennials who call themselves conservatives as well as their uber-liberal counterparts.

First of all, they’ve all been lied to—a great deal, particularly about sex. Such deception is nothing new. It has been going on for millennia. As J.R.R. Tolkien put it nearly three-quarters of a century ago, “The dislocation of sex-instinct is one of the chief symptoms of the Fall. The world has been ‘going to the bad’ all down the ages… [T]he ‘hard spirit of concupiscence’ has walked down every street, and sat leering in every house, since Adam fell.”

However, growing up in the age of technology that we all enjoy, Millennials have been saturated with sexual propaganda like no other generation. This is significant in that so much of what we debate in the moral realm of our culture centers on sex.

Abortion, same-sex marriage, homosexuality, divorce, pornography, contraception, and the like are ultimately all about sex. For decades now, these issues have been hotly debated everywhere from the dinner table to the Supreme Court of the United States. Far too many Millennials have voted for politicians based solely on where they stand on these matters. Thus, they certainly need and deserve the truth when it comes to these moral issues.

Second, the oft-repeated protest that goes something like, “We need to stop legislating morality!” is a tired, foolish, and ignorant complaint. Likewise, and just as foolish and ignorant, is the idea that conservatives can besocially conservative in their private activities without trying to impose their views on other people.” Why aren’t liberals implored (especially by conservative Millennials) to be socially liberal in their private activities without trying to impose their views on other people?

Conservatives did not ask for these battles. We are not the aggressors in the moral wars. For example, after the Lawrence vs. Texas ruling (which overturned the remaining anti-sodomy laws in the U.S.) by the U.S. Supreme Court, most conservatives would have been content with the “live and let live approach.” However, having government “out of the bedrooms” was not good enough for liberals. Thus, the assault on marriage began.

Make no mistake about it; someone’s morality is going to rule us. Before shunning the Christian morality (upon which this country was founded), that teaches among many other wonderful things that sex outside of marriage is wrong and that marriage is a union of one man and one woman for life, Millennials would do well to examine the evidence.

Many of them need to look no further than their own upbringing. Millennials are more likely than any other generation in American history to have been brought up in homes that suffered divorce or no marriage at all. The consequences that children endure as a result of their parents divorcing or as a result of growing up in a single-parent home (almost always without a father) or with same-sex parents are tragic and well documented.

Children of divorce are more likely to be poor, have behavior problems, and use illegal drugs. They are also more likely to struggle academically, suffer with depression, and commit suicide. Children born out of wedlock suffer even worse. They are significantly more likely to be poor; they have more health problems; and they have much slower cognitive and social development. Children born out of wedlock achieve significantly less academically as well as occupationally.

These consequences are devastating not only for individuals and families, but for the nation at large. Even liberals realize this, although their solutions, of course, involve bigger government. A case in point is the recent column by DeWayne Wickham on how President Obama “seeks to fix what ails minority males.”

A great many of these minority males were brought up in homes without fathers. Do you think Obama, Wickham, and the like will urge these men not to perpetuate this crisis by fathering children out of wedlock? Do you think traditional marriage—where mothers and fathers are together in the home and both invested in their children—will be part of their solution?

Of course not. Wickham wants another “War on Poverty.” (Because the first one worked so well—evidenced by the record number of Americans on food stamps.) Obama advisor Valarie Jarrett is “pumped up…to have the federal government do all it can to support this effort.” Whenever liberals say “federal support,” it’s time to hide your wallet. Whenever liberals say that they are “pumped up” about “federal support,” it’s time to visit banks in the Caymans.

Even more disturbing are the proposed solutions to “fix” our economy offered up recently by Millennial Jesse Myerson. (The fact that Rolling Stone saw fit to print his drivel is also quite disturbing.) In what almost seems like satire meant to deride liberals, Myerson presents a socialist smorgasbord that every Millennial “should be fighting for.”

As a solution to unemployment, he proposes government-guaranteed “work for everybody.” Such work would, of course, pay a “living wage,” that, of course, would be determined by the government. “But let’s think even bigger,” Myerson declares as he next suggests Social Security payments for everyone; “universal basic income, in which the government would just add a sum sufficient for subsistence to everyone's bank account every month.” Thus, Myerson amazingly concludes (giving us even more reason to stereotype young liberals as lazy), participation in the labor force would become “truly voluntary, thereby enabling people to get a life.”

The third proposal is to “take back the land.” Myerson then goes into a rant about landlords who “don't really do anything to earn their money. They just claim ownership of buildings and charge people who actually work for a living the majority of our incomes for the privilege of staying in boxes that these owners often didn't build and rarely if ever improve.”

Did you catch that? Myerson’s stupidity and hypocrisy are stunning. Just a few sentences after he lauds the idea of a nation where work is optional, Myerson criticizes property owners for not having to work—while patting himself on the back as someone “who actually work[s]!”

After Jonah Goldberg took Myerson to task, Emmett Rensin of the L.A. Times ran to Myerson’s defense. Rensin concluded that “Young leftists like Myerson and myself share a moral outlook that fundamentally differs from conservatives like Goldberg: Freedom, in the most prosperous nation on Earth, must entail the freedom to act without the constant specter of homelessness, hunger and preventable illness.”

In other words, Rensin and his comrades want to live by the pagan “do as thou wilt” philosophy and not have to suffer any consequences for their choices. Or, to paraphrase George Costanza, such “leftists” would prefer to live in the fantasy world of Cosmo Kramer: do nothing, make money without working, mooch food (and health care, etc.) off their neighbors, and have all the sex they want without any of the costs.

All of this begs a question of Millennials—especially those calling themselves conservatives. What do you prefer: to be guided by, and have a government that reflects, principles that place “moral chains” upon our appetites (as Edmund Burke instructs us) in order to help us prevent social and economic crises; or expensive Big Government programs to “fix” them? (Immorality is expensive—in more ways than one!) You’re going to have to live with one or the other.

It is folly to pursue politics that take a conservative approach to economic issues and a liberal approach to the moral ones. There is no going halfway here. It’s time for Millennials who want to be conservatives to be big boys and girls and swallow the whole pill. Conservatives cannot leave our morality at the door when it comes to issues involving sex. The moral arguments in favor of sound fiscal policy (“It is no act of charity to be generous with someone else’s money.”) are rooted in the same morality that teaches us that marriage is a union of one man and one woman and that killing a child in the womb is wrong.
