Hurricane Ian and the Shortcomings of Weather (and Climate) Forecasting

In the days prior to hurricane Ian’s devastating landfall, millions of Americans were anxiously pouring over Ian’s forecasted “cone” and “spaghetti” models. These models, and the accompanying forecasts, played a huge role in policies that were meant to protect lives and property.

As Ian crept towards Florida, millions were evacuated, homes and businesses were boarded up, and scheduled events were cancelled, moved, or postponed. Tragically, for parts of Florida fears of what Ian would bring indeed proved true. However, in the area where I live—northeast Georgia—Ian-based precautions proved ill-advised.

Northeast Georgia is hundreds of miles from any U.S. coast, yet as early as the Monday (9/26) prior to Ian’s Florida landfall, schools across our area, and throughout Georgia, begin to change their schedules due to the possible impact of hurricane Ian. This was especially the case with Friday-night football. As reported by our local media, 17 out of the 20 games involving Northeast Georgia high school football teams moved from Friday evening to Thursday evening. This move also impacted numerous JV and middle school games, which are typically played on Thursdays.

Such a move might seem like a small thing, but, along with the players, cheer leaders, band members, and school officials involved, countless schedules—work, and the like—of parents and fans were also impacted. As we got to Thursday, it seemed clear that Ian’s impact in our area would be minimal. As Friday arrived, Ian’s impact was less than minimal. There was no rain, and only a slight breeze. Late Friday night—after midnight—a few showers grazed extreme northeast Georgia, and that was it.

Rescheduled football games were not the only Ian-based decisions made by Georgia school officials. Several central Georgia systems cancelled classes on Friday, or switched to the dreaded “virtual learning” schedule. Again, Ian’s impact in these areas was also minimal to nothing.

I say this not to lambast school administrators who made these decisions. Central and northern Georgia have, in the not-too-distant past, have seen significant damage due to the remnants of a hurricane or tropical storm. However, the missed forecasts of a weather event that was only days away should give us great pause when it comes to climate forecasts that speak of events that are typically decades or even centuries away.

We see failed weather forecasts constantly, as I’ve noted before, more than once. Yet millions throughout the world—with religious dedication—continue to buy the left’s doom-and-gloom forecasts when it comes to the global climate. Again, the lesson is this: if weather forecasters often get events wrong that are only days away, there’s no way we should put any faith in climate forecasts that are years away.

Congressman Andrew Clyde vs. Woke Planned Parenthood Physician

Georgia's own Andrew Clyde--U.S. Congressional Rep. for Georgia's 9th district--recently asked a Planned Parenthood doctor if "biological men can get pregnant." Of course, for a doctor who denies the biological reality of life in the womb, it's not too far a leap to the absurd conclusion that "men can get pregnant." Mr. Clyde corrects this absurdity:

Unless brought to heel, the left will continue on this path of evil. And remember, millions of American school-age children are subjected to this evil in their government schools.

Never Forget the COVID Fascists

Recent weeks have made it clear that Democrats don’t know fascism, even when it is staring back at them. On fascism, the Father of Fascism, Benito Mussolini, wrote, “The foundation of Fascism is the conception of the State, its character, its duty, and its aim. Fascism conceives of the State as an absolute, in comparison with which all individuals or groups are relative, only to be conceived of in their relation to the State.”

If ever the American government viewed its authority as “absolute,” if ever individual Americans were under the notion that they were “only to be conceived of in their relation to the State,” it was shortly after COVID-19 entered the U.S. I submit to you that the COVID policies—shutdowns and lockdowns; “stay home, stay safe;” mandatory masking, social distancing, testing, and vaccines; and so on—perpetuated by the American left and those like-minded were the greatest demonstration of fascism the United States has ever known. In the nearly 250-year history of the U.S., never before has the American government exercised such power over its citizenry as it did in the name of “slowing the spread,” “following the science,” and the like. And never before in the history of the U.S. has the exercise of government power been so misinformed and misguided, with such disastrous results.

Of course, with elections looming, in an attempt to escape responsibility for their COVID tyranny, Democrats and their lackeys in the media want to blame “the pandemic,” and whenever possible, Donald Trump and the MAGA agenda. For example, last week, the American drive-by media widely reported on the “dismal learning loss” suffered by U.S. students “due to the pandemic.” The idea that “the pandemic erased two decades of progress in math and reading” was frequently parroted by said media.

Tens of millions of American students suffered far more than “learning loss” from the late winter of 2020 until now, but almost none of this was “due to the pandemic.” Rather, it was all due to a widespread foolish—and often downright evil—reaction to the pandemic.

When confronted with the national test results that revealed the scope of the “learning loss” suffered by U.S. students, “turning reality on its head,” the Biden administration pointed the finger at Trump and the GOP and said that re-opening schools “was the work of Democrats in spite of Republicans.” As Guy Benson at Townhall.com noted, this is a “brazen lie.”

Indeed, one of the political reasons that schools remained closed in Democratic areas and states for as long as they did is because President Trump called for them to be open. And because designated villains like Gov. Ron DeSantis were following the data and permitting in-person learning to resume. In an era of negative partisanship, kids were actively and needlessly hurt—with lasting deleterious impact—because politically-addicted adults didn't want [to] admit the 'wrong' sort of people were right about something. Just look at the metrics on states that opened schools first versus last. If [White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre’s] pathetic spin were accurate, the red states would be the holdouts.

We all know that’s not true. It’s the opposite of the truth. Conservative governors were assailed for ‘killing’ children as they made the right call, as Democrat-funding teachers unions blasted school re-openings as
white supremacy, and other such insulting nonsense. They cannot run away from their policies, and they cannot run away from their words.

While the school—and the many school-related activity—shutdowns across the U.S. were tragic, the effects of foolish and unnecessary COVID policies on small American businesses were even worse. “Learning loss” can be recovered. Tens of thousands of small businesses destroyed due to the COVID lockdowns and shutdowns will never return. Barely six months into our COVID hysteria—as I noted in November of 2020—it was clear that fascist government policies were devastating small businesses throughout the U.S. As I noted at the time,

In spite of the science and the months of real-time data that proved it unnecessary, the left has persisted with shutting down businesses and churches. As a result of these state-enforced lockdowns, hundreds of thousands of small businesses in the U.S. have shut down—many of them permanently so.

Data from late September show that between March 1 and August 31, a total of 163,735 businesses on Yelp—which is especially representative of small businesses—closed. According to Yelp, about 60 percent of these businesses (nearly 98,000) will never reopen. The Yelp data reveals that small restaurants and retail stores have been hit particularly hard. It has made zero sense that Walmart, Target, Home Depot—none of whom were requiring masks as late as middle July—and the like have been allowed to remain open, while your local diner, gun store, or gym was forced to close.

By June of 2021, COVID shutdowns and lockdowns had destroyed nearly 40% of U.S. small businesses. As Pajamas Media reported at the time,

While bureaucrats gave Walmart, Costco, Lowe’s, and other big-box stores “essential” status, allowing them to stay open during the COVID pandemic38.9% of America’s small businesses, the providers of most of the country’s jobs, were forced to close based on fear, hackneyed social-distancing rules, early ignorance about transmission, and an insatiable desire by governors to micromanage the affairs of men.

Nothing says “micromanaging the affairs of men” like forcing men (and women, and children) to take medicine they don’t want or don’t need. Shortly after COVID-19 began to spread, the rush and the race for a vaccine was on. When the so-called “vaccines” were announced, government throughout the U.S. could hardly contain their desire to enact “vaccine” mandates. We were constantly told that the COVID “vaccines” would actually do what vaccines do: prevent one from getting what one is vaccinated against.

In early 2021, Dr. Anthony Fauci said that the COVID “vaccines” provide “a 94 to 95 percent efficacy in preventing clinically recognizable disease.” In a July, 2021 townhall, Joe Biden himself said, “You’re not going to get COVID if you have these vaccinations.” Natural immunity was all but ignored, and these deceptions were repeated, or implied, ad-nauseum. Those bent towards totalitarianism were eager to create “vaccine” mandates.

These mandates had deadly results. Hospital staff shortages were created, all-cause mortality exploded among many groups, and once new COVID variants arose, the world’s most “vaccinated” countries showed shockingly high COVID infection rates. We were told that unless populations were sufficiently “vaccinated,” a “pandemic of the unvaccinated” would result. Instead, a “pandemic of the vaccinated” developed.

The cost of the American left’s COVID fascism was not only measured in trillions of dollars lost, but countless sickness and death as well. Never forget the COVID fascists who for far too long plagued America. Most certainly remember them when it comes time to vote. If we don’t hold them accountable—and most importantly, remove them from power—I can almost guarantee you that they will do this again when the next “crisis” arrives.

Democrat vs. Republican: The Choice Couldn't Be More Clear!

Two recent videos highlight what we are choosing between in our November elections. First, a group called "Citizens for Sanity" released an ad to reveal the tragic and evil results of the "pro-crime, criminal first" agenda of the "woke" Democrat Party:

Also, below is a response to Joe Biden's dark, ugly speech he gave in Philadelphia where he declared "MAGA Republicans" a threat to "the very foundations of our republic." The man in the video is Alma Ohene-Opare. He is a recent American citizen who had to wait 18 years to gain his precious U.S. citizenship. He was born into a country where "his rights were not always guaranteed." Early in the video, Mr. Ohene-Opare declares himself a "conservative republican" and gives an excellent defense of the MAGA agenda:

We are MAGA because we want to restore the promise in the hearts of our children that this is the place where their efforts will be rewarded and where their true potential can be realized. We are MAGA because we believe in freedom of speech, the freedom to exercise our religion. We believe in limited government and the rule of law. We are MAGA because we love the Constitution and believe our Founders established a means for We the People to defend it, from enemies both foreign and domestic. I am MAGA because I want to be able to look into the eyes of my four black children to assure them that they’re not victims, that they hold inside them what it takes to achieve anything they set their hearts on. We believe our leaders should put America and its interests first, before any other nation. We believe our government should not saddle our children and grandchildren with insurmountable debt, chasing after a misguided idea of controlling or changing the course of the climate.

The whole video (about five-and-a-half minutes) is worth your time:

Excellent Political Ad on Democrat Extremists

Below is an ad running against Democrat Senate Majority Leader, Chuck Schumer. However, the ad well summarizes why NO democrat should win in the 2022 midterms. It's also well illustrates how the corrupt mainstream media in the U.S. has aided and abetted the democrats.

John MacArthur: The Kingdom of Lies

The "Kingdom of Lies" is what rules when a culture is devoted to the "theology of self." Tragically, the United States of America is riddled with this wicked theology. Of course, the "theology of self," where we supplant God and His Word with our own rule and selfish desires, is nothing new. As Genesis chapter 3 reveals, the desire to “be like God”—to rule our world—is nearly as old as humanity itself.

The Kingdom of Lies is especially prevalent where Democrats rule and reign. If democrat-rule expands, there can be little doubt that the Kingdom of Lies will also spread further throughout America.

Pastor Alistair Begg on the Bible and Sex

At the recent Keswick Convention, Pastor Alistair Begg goes where FAR too few pastors and other Christian leaders are unwilling to go:

Take heed Christian! The supreme issue in the "City of Man" in today's world is almost exclusively centered around sex. Pretending this is not the case has had disastrous results. Whether in our churches, in our homes, or out in the world, and whether we are talking about what is marriage, who is a male or female, homosexuality, or the proper role of sex in our culture, Christians must boldly and frequently speak the truth in these grave matters.

Democrat Policies Will Create More Pregnant 10-Year-Olds (Updated)

The end of Roe v. Wade—while a tremendous constitutional victory—is far from enough to end abortion in America. Many states in the U.S. will see just as many abortions—if not more—as they would have if Roe had never been overturned. What’s more, the (seemingly always) angry left in America seems ever more determined to bring even more sexual deviancy into our culture.

As the last several decades have taught us, the left doesn’t need an excuse to push the sexual boundaries in America, but losing Roe seems to have pushed many into a deeper darkness when it comes to matters in the sexual realm.

After the Dobbs decision which overturned Roe, Teen Vogue—a magazine for adolescents—published an article entitled “How to Get an Abortion if You’re a Teen After Roe v. Wade Was Overturned.” The article goes to great lengths to undermine parents of pregnant teenagers, declaring, “Having access to abortion should be your right, regardless of your parents’ beliefs.”

The article goes on to say,

If you aren’t comfortable telling a parent about your decision to have an abortion, you can seek what’s called a “judicial bypass” in one of the many states that has this system. Judicial bypass allows you to go directly before a judge and get approval from that judge to have an abortion, rather than having consent from your parents. Yes, it’s paternalistic and unfair that you literally have to get permission from someone else to choose what to do with your body, but it is an option for legal abortion.

The piece also included a link to an “interactive map” on abortion access throughout the United States. Of course, we shouldn’t be surprised. As a Red State writer recently noted—recalling the infamous “A Guide to Anal Sex”—Teen Vogue has been “a pioneer” in marketing sex to kids. I suppose if you’re going to sell immoral sex to kids, you may as well promote the immoral “solution” to immoral sex as well.

Along with garbage media like Teen Vogue, the left in America has widely taken to using “Drag Demon Queens”—specifically “Drag Demon Queen Story Hour” (DQSH)—to sell sex to children. In a recent piece at the Huffington Post, one of the “organizers” of DQSH—"Lil Miss Hot Mess”—in an effort to defend DQSH, promoted drag events as a “decidedly queer practice” that help assert “the right to queer.”

RuPaul—the infamous celebrity promoter of all things drag—describes drag as a “very, very political” act because it “challenges the status quo.” He further adds, “Drag says ‘I'm a shapeshifter, I do whatever the hell I want at any given time.’” It seems doing “whatever the hell I want at any given time” now includes promoting a perverse sexual culture to children.

With DQSH now having occurred for years in many U.S. cities, with little real pushback, those devoted to the evil LGBTMYNAMEISLEGION agenda now feel emboldened to have kids attend actual drag shows (and even participate in them!). One promoter of this evil boldly declares, “children belong at drag shows!” (WARNING: previous link is extremely graphic!) These are highly sexual events where partial to near-full nudity is frequent, and the language and actions during the shows are filled with sexual innuendo. (This type of garbage is also often present at most every “Pride” parade.)

And the Democrat Party—at the highest levels—seems all for this evil. Michigan’s attorney general, Dana Nessel—a democrat—has called for “A drag queen for every school!” Nessel’s full quote:

A drag queen for every school! That is what would be fun for the kids and lift them up when they are having emotional issues. Drag queens—not only are they not hurting our kids—drag queens make everything better! Drag queens are fun.

Since 2018, New York City has paid over $200,000 to Drag Story Hour NYC to read books to K-12 students. New York Mayor, Eric Adams—a democrat—defended the practice, stating, “The goal is not only for our children to be academically smart, but also emotionally intelligent. Drag storytellers, and the libraries and schools that support them, are advancing a love of diversity, personal expression, and literacy that is core to what our city embraces.”

Last year, Alaska democrats used their resources to promote a DQSH event. A Facebook post announced, “The Alaska Democratic Party is proud to host this event virtually so Alaskans across the state can now enjoy story time together.”

In an appearance on “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars,” Nancy Pelosi stated that drag queens are “what America is all about.” According to The Heritage Foundation, in an effort to force schools throughout America to promote the transgender agenda, the Biden administration “skipped over Congress and any rule-making processes and are threatening to withhold federal school lunches from low-income children in schools where boys are not allowed to participate in girls sports or access girls bathrooms.”

Scott McKay at The American Spectator is right, “The evidence of the Left’s designs on America’s children is everywhere.” And the Democrat Party’s fingerprints are all over these “designs.” I suppose this is why the left wants to make sure that 10-year-olds can get abortions.

During the past week, in order to push their abortion/sex agenda, democrats throughout the U.S. widely, and quickly, spread the story of a 10-year-old rape victim in Ohio, who, due to Ohio’s restrictions, had to flee to Indiana to obtain an abortion. The story has yet to be verified and appears to be nothing more than more vile leftist propaganda.

If the modern left, and today’s Democrat Party, truly cared about pregnant 10-year-olds, they would stop promoting policies that helped create them.

Update: There is now some indication that the story of a pregnant 10-year-old in Ohio who went to Indiana to obtain an abortion may be true. From Twitchy

The Columbus Dispatch is reporting that Gershon Fuentes, a 27-year-old Columbus man, has been charged with the rape of a 10-year-old girl who traveled to Indianapolis for an abortion...And the report says Fuentes is “believed to be undocumented.”

In other words, it appears that Fuentes is an illegal immigrant. If this is indeed the case, the premise of this piece is spot on, though in a way not specifically mentioned in my original version of this piece. I failed to note the U.S. southern border disaster, which, along with allowing the entry of child rapists, is also a tremendous gateway for sex trafficking. Of course, it is the policies of the Democrat Party that are specifically and especially responsible for the illegal entry into the U.S. by purported criminals like Fuentes.

Was Covid-19, and the Response, the Greatest Crime in History?

The Sermon That Helped Ratify the U.S. Constitution (Taken From The Miracle and Magnificence of America)

On December 6, 1787, by unanimous consent, Delaware became the first state to ratify the new Constitution. New Jersey and Georgia soon followed, also by unanimous consent. On December 12, 1787, by a vote of 46 to 23, Pennsylvania approved the Constitution. In 1788, Connecticut, Massachusetts (by a close 187 to 168 vote), Maryland, and South Carolina made it eight states. New Hampshire was the state that put the Constitution into effect.

Christian ministers played no small role in the matter. Samuel Langdon was a distinguished theologian and scholar. He graduated from Harvard in 1740, went on to become a prominent Congregational minister, and was president of Harvard University from 1774 to 1780. He was also a delegate to the New Hampshire convention that ratified (by the slim margin of 57 to 46) the U.S. Constitution in 1788. New Hampshire was the last of the necessary nine states needed to ratify the Constitution. In order to persuade his fellow delegates to vote in favor of the U.S. Constitution, Langdon delivered an “election sermon” entitled, The Republic of the Israelites an Example to the American States.

After beginning by quoting Deuteronomy 4:5-8 in his sermon, Langdon noted,

[T]he Israelites may be considered as a pattern to the world in all ages; and from them we may learn what will exalt our character, and what will depress and bring us to ruin. Let us therefore look over their constitution and laws, enquire into their practice, and observe how their prosperity and fame depended on their strict observance of the divine commands both as to their government and religion.

Langdon then gave an account of how Moses, upon the wise counsel of his father-in-law Jethro, “the priest of Midian,” set up a republican form of government, with representatives (“leaders,” “rulers,” “judges,” depending on the biblical translation) from groups of thousands, hundreds, fifties, and tens. In addition, 70 elders, or wise-men—a type of national Senate as described by biblical and Jewish scholars—were selected by Moses and approved by the consent of the people.

Langdon added,

A government thus settled on republican principles, required laws; without which it must have degenerated immediately into aristocracy, or absolute monarchy. But God did not leave a people, wholly unskilled in legislation, to make laws for themselves: he took this important matter wholly into His own hands, and beside the moral laws of the two tables, which directed their conduct as individuals, gave them by Moses a complete code of judicial laws.

Langdon goes on to describe how this republican form of government helped the nation of Israel grow from a “mere mob” (if only the eighteenth century French had taken notice) to a “well regulated nation, under a government and laws far superior to what any other nation could boast!” After detailing Israel’s later struggles—they would eventually “[neglect] their government, [corrupt] their religion, and [grow] dissolute in their morals”—Langston exhorted his fellow citizens to learn from the nation of Israel.

That as God in the course of his kind providence hath given you an excellent constitution of government, founded on the most rational, equitable, and liberal principles, by which all that liberty is secured which a people can reasonably claim, and you are empowered to make righteous laws for promoting public order and good morals; and as he has moreover given you by his son Jesus Christ, who is far superior to Moses, a complete revelation of his will, and a perfect system of true religion, plainly delivered in the sacred writings; it will be your wisdom in the eyes of the nations, and your true interest and happiness, to conform your practice in the strictest manner to the excellent principles of your government, adhere faithfully to the doctrines and commands of the gospel, and practice every public and private virtue. By this you will increase in numbers, wealth, and power, and obtain reputation and dignity among the nations: whereas, the contrary conduct will make you poor, distressed, and contemptible.

On September 21, 1788 the Constitution and the new government of the United States went into effect. Just over three years later, the Bill of Rights would be added. By 1790, when Rhode Island, by a vote of 34 to 32, joined the Union, it was unanimous.

On July 4, 1837, in a speech delivered in the town of Newburyport, Massachusetts, John Quincy Adams, son of John Adams, and the sixth U.S. President, proclaimed,

Why is it that, next to the birthday of the Savior of the World, your most joyous and most venerated festival returns on this day? Is it not that, in the chain of human events, the birthday of the nation is indissolubly linked with the birthday of the Savior? Is it not that the Declaration of Independence first organized the social compact on the foundation of the Redeemer’s mission upon earth?

Witnessing the events of the Revolution as a boy, and no-doubt hearing from his father of the raucous debates that gave us the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, and then going on to serve his country in many various capacities, John Quincy Adams saw that Christmas and Independence Day were fundamentally linked. He understood well that the Founders took the principles that Christ brought to the world and incorporated them into civil government. This is what makes the U.S. government so distinctive, why it has been so durable, and why, to this day, we are the greatest nation the world has ever known.

Happy Independence Day!

Like Roe, Obergefell Needs to Go

In overturning the appalling judicial activism of the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court (SCOTUS), which, in its infamous Roe v. Wade decision legalized abortion at any stage of pregnancy throughout the U.S., the current SCOTUS writes,

For the first 185 years after the adoption of the Constitution, each State was permitted to address this issue in accordance with the views of its citizens. Then, in 1973, this Court decided Roe v. Wade, 410 U. S. 113. Even though the Constitution makes no mention of abortion, the Court held that it confers a broad right to obtain one. It did not claim that American law or the common law had ever recognized such a right, and its survey of history ranged from the constitutionally irrelevant (e.g., its discussion of abortion in antiquity) to the plainly incorrect (e.g., its assertion that abortion was probably never a crime under the common law). After cataloging a wealth of other information having no bearing on the meaning of the Constitution, the opinion concluded with a numbered set of rules much like those that might be found in a statute enacted by a legislature…

At the time of Roe, 30 States still prohibited abortion at all stages. In the years prior to that decision, about a third of the States had liberalized their laws, but Roe abruptly ended that political process. It imposed the same highly restrictive regime on the entire Nation, and it effectively struck down the abortion laws of every single State. As Justice Byron White aptly put it in his dissent, the decision represented the “exercise of raw judicial power,” …

We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled. The Constitution makes no reference to abortion, and no such right is implicitly protected by any constitutional provision, including the one on which the defenders of Roe and Casey now chiefly rely—the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.

In other words, whatever one thinks of killing the unborn, the Roe decision of 1973 invented a Constitutional “right” and robbed Americans of the freedom to govern themselves. The result of Dobbs was to reverse this egregious legal error. As soon as it’s given the opportunity, today’s SCOTUS should do the same with the awful Obergefell ruling that forcefully legalized same-sex “marriage” throughout the U.S.

Like Roe, the majority in Obergefell largely relied on the Fourteenth Amendment to justify nullifying marriage laws in dozens of U.S. states. The majority in Obergefell concluded:

Under the Constitution, same-sex couples seek in marriage the same legal treatment as opposite-sex couples, and it would disparage their choices and diminish their personhood to deny them this right.

The right of same-sex couples to marry that is part of the liberty promised by the Fourteenth Amendment is derived, too, from that Amendment’s guarantee of the equal protection of the laws. The Due Process Clause and the Equal Protection Clause are connected in a profound way, though they set forth independent principles.

Likewise, as in Roe, the five to four Obergefell majority discovered a “right” that heretofore had escaped U.S. citizens, legislatures, and courts for well over two centuries. And again the SCOTUS mistook itself for a legislative body. As John Roberts noted in his dissent:

But this Court is not a legislature. Whether same-sex marriage is a good idea should be of no concern to us. Under the Constitution, judges have power to say what the law is, not what it should be. The people who ratified the Constitution authorized courts to exercise “neither force nor will but merely judgment.” …

Although the policy arguments for extending marriage to same-sex couples may be compelling, the legal arguments for requiring such an extension are not. The fundamental right to marry does not include a right to make a State change its definition of marriage… In short, our Constitution does not enact any one theory of marriage. The people of a State are free to expand marriage to include same-sex couples, or to retain the historic definition.

Today, however, the Court takes the extraordinary step of ordering every State to license and recognize same-sex marriage…Supporters of same-sex marriage have achieved considerable success persuading their fellow citizens—through the democratic process—to adopt their view. That ends today. Five lawyers have closed the debate and enacted their own vision of marriage as a matter of constitutional law.

Additionally, in his concurring dissent, the late-great Justice Scalia rightly concluded:

The substance of today’s decree is not of immense personal importance to me. The law can recognize as marriage whatever sexual attachments and living arrangements it wishes, and can accord them favorable civil consequences, from tax treatment to rights of inheritance. Those civil consequences—and the public approval that conferring the name of marriage evidences—can perhaps have adverse social effects, but no more adverse than the effects of many other controversial laws. So it is not of special importance to me what the law says about marriage. It is of overwhelming importance, however, who it is that rules me. Today’s decree says that my Ruler, and the Ruler of 320 million Americans coast-to-coast, is a majority of the nine lawyers on the Supreme Court. The opinion in these cases is the furthest extension in fact— and the furthest extension one can even imagine—of the Court’s claimed power to create “liberties” that the Constitution and its Amendments neglect to mention. This practice of constitutional revision by an unelected committee of nine, always accompanied (as it is today) by extravagant praise of liberty, robs the People of the most important liberty they asserted in the Declaration of Independence and won in the Revolution of 1776: the freedom to govern themselves.

As I noted at the time, and as did The New York Times, as recently as 2009, 31 U.S. states had put same-sex marriage before its electorate, and by an overwhelming majority (an average of 67.5%), U.S. citizens rejected same-sex “marriage” in every case. This included very liberal states such as Maine, California, Oregon, and Hawaii. Going even further, 29 states amended their constitutions in order to ban same-sex marriage and also specifically defined marriage as the union of one man and one woman.

Furthermore, many states also banned any sort of civil unions and refused to recognize same-sex “marriages” legalized by other states. All of this was rendered moot by a mere five to four majority in Obergefell.

Again, there’s no other institution in the history of humanity with more “precedent” than marriage as the union of one man and one woman. As they did with abortion, the U.S. Supreme Court should put this grave matter back into the hands of U.S. citizens and their legislators.

Elaine Benes (of Seinfeld) Got Abortion "Rights" Right

In 1994, in the episode entitled "The Couch," Elaine Benes, a fictional character on NBC's Seinfeld, perfectly captured the modern left's views on abortion "rights."

After telling a story of his mother's forced abortion, and revealing his opposition to killing children in the womb, Poppy declares, "So on this issue there's no debate, and no intelligent person can think differently." Elaine replies, "Well Poppy, I think differently!" Poppy asks, "And what gives you the right to do that?" Elaine tellingly--and emphatically--responds, "The Supreme Court gives me the right to do that!"

I'm not sure if the writers of Seinfeld were attempting--if anything--to accomplish with that last line quoted above, but the notion that U.S. Supreme Court (SCOTUS) gave one "the right" to kill a child in the womb is exactly what happened in 1973. In other words, with its infamous ruling in Roe, the United States Supreme Court simply--and tragically--invented a "right" to kill children in the womb.

As the recent majority opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson (which rightly overturned the decision in Roe v. Wade) notes, "The Constitution makes no reference to abortion, and no such right is implicitly protected by any constitutional provision, including the one on which the defenders of Roe and Casey now chiefly rely..."

So of course, what the Supreme Court giveth, the Supreme Court can taketh away, and that's exactly what happened in Dobbs. The left has long relied on the courts to give it what it couldn't accomplish through the democratic, legislative process. With Dobbs, the current SCOTUS put a halt to that with abortion. This should happen with a litany of issues near and dear to the modern left, including same-sex "marriage."

Leftists Are for Illegal Immigration...Until They're Asked to Take Them Into Their Homes!

This is an excellent bit of journalism from the U.K.:

So U.K. leftists are all for taking in every refugee, until they are asked to put their name on a list to take these refugees into their homes! Color me SHOCKED! (Not!)

Advice On Fatherhood

The words here are dedicated to all the current and future fathers out there, especially to my three sons, Caleb, Jesse, and Noah, and to my future son-in law. I’m 52 (soon to be 53) years old. I’ve been married to my wife Michelle for nearly 25 years now. One of the greatest joys of my life is being the father to Caleb (20), Jesse (18), Caroline (16), and Noah (13).

I’ve by no means been the perfect father. I’ve made countless mistakes and almost certainly have other mistakes—though I hope far fewer—awaiting me. Through my personal experiences, through the numerous wise men and women with whom God has graced my life—especially my parents and my wife’s parents—and above all, through the wisdom of God, I’ve learned some things when it comes to fatherhood that I would like to pass on.

Stay Sexually Pure

There’s probably no quicker way to destroy a marriage these days than through sexual immorality. C.S. Lewis was right when he wrote, “There is no getting away from it: the old Christian rule is, ‘Either marriage, with complete faithfulness to your partner, or else total abstinence.’” Lewis was also correct we he noted that this is the most unpopular of all the Christian virtues.

Lewis wrote those words in the middle of the 20th century, many years prior to the rampant spread of pornography and the evil LGBTMYNAMEISLEGION agenda, and decades before the internet. In other words, as unpopular as chastity was when Lewis was speaking and writing on such matters, given how easy and acceptable it is today to live contrary to God’s teaching on sex and marriage, it is even more unpopular now. Yet, the truth remains.

Be faithful to your wives men, before and during marriage. Flee from pornography and the like. Seek reliable sexual accountability before and during marriage. Have no secrets in this area from your wife. Make sure she has complete access to every digital device you own. If and when you fail—and you almost certainly will have some failures—confess, repent, and seek help if necessary. Also, model and teach your children the truth in these grave matters.

Spend Time With Your Family

I’ve been blessed with many friends throughout my life. However, there is no one that I would rather spend time with than my wife and kids. I almost never “hang out” with anyone other than my family. Not that there’s anything inherently wrong with friends outside of your family, but always make your family the priority. Do what they enjoy, even if it conflicts with what you would rather do. Love is far more than what we feel or say. Let your actions communicate your love for your wife and children. Time is a precious commodity. Spend it on abundantly on your wife and kids.

Work and Provide!

One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned from my father is the value and importance of hard work and providing for one’s family. In their early years, our children most need time with their mothers. It is tremendously important that men do all possible to allow for this. By American standards, Michelle and I are far from wealthy. Throughout our marriage, the vast majority of our income has come from my work as a teacher of mathematics. Typically, one doesn’t get wealthy through working as a teacher.

Nevertheless, from the moment Caleb exited his mothers’ womb—over 20 years ago—until today, with rare exception, Michelle has been a stay-at-home mom. She has been able to earn some income working from home, and she has at times, now that our kids are older, worked outside the home.

However, it has been more common for me to take on extra work. For most of the past decade, as life has gotten more expensive, and in order for Michelle to remain at home, I have worked multiple jobs. We still can’t afford to purchase new cars, and we don’t take fancy vacations, and the like, but we are able to provide our children with far more than what most kids across the world receive. Most importantly, our kids have grown up with their parents present in their lives, and are very close to us and one another as a result.

Be a Man!

No doubt you’ve encountered the notion of “toxic masculinity.” For the most part, this is simply another attack from the modern left on traditional Christian values. For example, much of what I write in this column will be despised by today’s leftists and will be attributed to my “toxic masculinity.” As Ben Shapiro wrote in 2017,

The goal of the Left, therefore, becomes to train boys not to become men. Instead, boys should be feminized; they should never be encouraged to “be a man.” …

If men are not trained by good men, they will be trained by bad men; if they have no good males to follow, they follow bad ones. The Left routinely speaks about a world run by women and why such a world would create better men. But the most male-free environment in America exists in black communities, where well over half of black children grow up without fathers. This hasn’t made black boys less violent; it’s made them far more prone to criminality than their non-black peers. Many of these boys follow teenage role models, many of whom have lacked fathers themselves, and lack the training to be a gentleman.

To “be a man,” it is important to remember that this is not just about physical strength and hard work, but about being a “gentleman”: being patient, kind, giving, and above all, loving. Got Questions puts it this way,

A true man is someone who has “put away childish things.” A true man knows what is right and stands firm in the right. A true man is a godly man. He loves the Lord, he loves life, and he loves those whom the Lord has entrusted to his care.

Be a Good Husband

As I’ve often pointed out, the biblical family model is at the foundation of every institution in the history of humanity. Thus, the importance of the family is paramount. Of course, the enemy of all mankind knows this well. This is why I believe that the hardest two jobs in the world are being a good parent and being a good spouse. As I’ve often said before, after our relationship with our Creator, the most important relationship in the universe is the relationship between a husband and his wife.

In other words, men, if you want things right between you and your children, you need to have things right with your wife. Prioritize your relationship with your wife! Your children need to see a proper, loving, healthy relationship with their parents. This will bring them much peace and joy (whether they even realize it at the time or not) and will be a tremendous help to them as they embark on their own marriages.

Lastly, and Most Importantly: Follow Jesus

The greatest model for what it means to be a good earthly father is the model provided for us by our Heavenly Father. Christians believe that God sent His “one and only Son,” Jesus Christ into the world to save the world. God gave of Himself in the most precious way possible in order to do for those He loves what it was impossible for us to do for ourselves.

God’s greatest gift met humanity’s most desperate need. In His earthly walk, Jesus modeled love, forgiveness, patience, kindness, generosity, strength, wisdom, and so on, like no else who has ever lived or will ever live. The more you are like Him, the better husband and father you will be.

On Gun Control and Mental Health, Who Gets to Decide Who’s Crazy?

The latest bi-partisan “gun control” legislative proposal reeks of “Do-Somethingism.” Again, given the rampant disasters wrought from the numerous foolish policies enacted due to our bout with COVID-19, we should’ve learned our lesson on “Do-Somethingism.” Give Democrats—and their like-minded enablers—a “crisis” and you’re almost certainly guaranteed a catastrophic Big Government “solution.”

Inevitably, such “solutions” do almost nothing to solve the problems they were meant to solve, and instead burden tens-of-millions of Americans with a host of new problems that are often much worse than the original “problem.” Again, see the COVID scamdemic. If signed into law—and Biden has said he will sign it—almost certainly the new “gun control” legislation proposed by ten democrats and ten republicans will prove about as useful as most of the anti-COVID-19 measures enacted throughout the U.S. the past two-plus years.

And like the near-useless anti-COVID-19 policies, this new “gun control” legislation will do virtually nothing to solve the problem intended—mass shootings—and instead will create a myriad of new problems for innocent Americans. In the statement released describing what’s in the legislation (see previous link), much of the focus of the bill is on “mental health.”

Additionally, the legislation seems to incentivize U.S. states to enact “red flag” laws. Under the heading entitled “Intervention Orders,” the description of the legislation reads:

Provides resources to states and tribes to create and administer laws that help ensure deadly weapons are kept out of the hands of individuals whom a court has determined to be a significant danger to themselves or others, consistent with state and federal due process and constitutional protections.

A red flag law is a “gun control” law that permits police or individuals to petition a state court to order the removal of firearms “from a person who they believe may present a danger to others or themselves.” Nineteen states—almost all blue states—and the District of Columbia have some form of a red flag law.

As Tucker Carlson recently went into great detail to point out, there are huge problems with red flag laws:

First, red flag laws won’t end mass shootings. But red flag laws will end due process…Under red flag laws the government doesn’t have to prove you did anything wrong in order to strip you of your most basic rights. All that’s required to punish you is a complaint, possibly even an anonymous complaint, in which somebody says “you seem dangerous.” Now that complaint doesn’t come from a grand jury, it can come from anyone, including someone who hates you or someone who simply doesn’t like your politics…On the basis of that unproven complaint, you lose your freedom and your ability to defend yourself and your family.

In other words, who gets to decide who’s “dangerous?” Just a couple of years ago, Democrat Congressman Eric Swalwell thought Ben Shapiro was a good example of why America needed red flag laws. Just as Americans should be very cautious when it comes to enacting red flag laws, Americans should also be very hesitant to embrace any legislation, school policy, and the like when it comes to “mental health” and “gun control.” Because, who gets to decide who’s crazy?

According to a recent (2019) study published in Psychiatry Research, “psychiatric diagnoses are scientifically worthless as tools to identify discrete mental health disorders.” This conclusion aligns well with what practicing psychotherapist Gary Greenburg has long said. Upon the release of the latest version of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (the DSM 5) in early 2013, The Atlantic asked Dr. Greenburg, “Can you define mental illness?” His reply: “No. Nobody can.”

Dr. Greenburg says that not one of the disorders in the DSM is real. He claims that the DSM is nothing more than an exercise in rhetoric; an attempt to legitimize the practice of psychiatry. In a culture that is increasingly more hesitant to use the word “evil,” Dr. Greenburg concludes that having the American Psychiatric Association (who owns and publishes the DSM) classify certain behaviors as “disorders” is a way to remove the moral aspect behind certain behaviors.

We’ve seen this often with mass shootings. Inevitably, whenever one of these rare but horrific acts of evil takes place, words and phrases like “mentally disturbed,” “mentally ill,” “crazy,” “nut-job,” and “psycho,” are frequently tossed around. This is even done by well-meaning, and sometimes even biblically minded, conservatives.

I believe this is because sickness is much easier to deal with than evil. Sickness can be treated—or we can at least pretend, or look like, we’re treating it—often with expensive drugs and/or therapy (or masks and lockdowns!). When it comes to those who are financially vested in such things, sickness is good for business. However, dealing with evil requires that we define what is evil, and dealing with evil means that we sometimes must engage in matters in the spiritual realm.

Additionally, as we pervert what is sickness along with what is good and evil, what was once good and right can be something that needs to be cured or punished. So if you merely vote the “wrong” way, or attend the “wrong” protest, or say the “wrong” things, or refuse to support what someone else has determined is the “right” thing, you could find yourself on the wrong side of a court ruling when it comes to your guns.

We’ve seen this play out countless times when it comes cancel culture. Just this week, the NFL’s Washington Commanders (Redskins!) lightened the wallet of assistant coach Jack Del Rio to the tune of $100,000 simply because he didn’t tow the preferred (Democrat) line when it comes to the actions at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, and the numerous (criminal) riots in the wake of George Floyd’s death.

In other words, the NFL has decided what is “right” when it comes to January 6, 2021, and the George Floyd riots. And if you don’t stick to the (Democrat) narrative on these matters, you will be punished.

When it comes to courts taking our guns, many will say, “But we have the Second Amendment!” True, however, we’re a few Supreme Court Justices away from having that Amendment “interpreted” beyond recognition. Given the numerous vagaries when it comes to mental illness, and given the importance of gun ownership to a free nation, America simply can’t afford to have the courts tell us who’s “crazy” enough to have his guns taken away.

Tucker Carlson Nails It on Guns and "Red Flag" Laws:

I'm for keeping weapons out of the hands of those bent on evil as much as anyone. However, I DO NOT trust U.S. courts, or ANY legal authority with determining whether or not a person is "mentally fit" to own a gun. Tucker Carlson gets this right:

Remember, what we're dealing with here is not so much a problem with mental illness, but a problem with evil, and a failure to properly deal with it.

On Sex and Marriage, God’s “Precedent” Must, and Will, Prevail

Alas, as you almost certainly well know by now, it’s Pervert—aka “Pride”— Month again. Whenever you hear “Pride Month,” remember, this is the kind of thing the LGBTMYNAMISLEGION apologists take “pride” in (warning: graphic content):

Tragically, as one observer noted, this was not even the worst footage from the “Drag The Kids To Pride” event in Dallas, Texas. Along with these vile actions, in their own words, these “Drag Demon Queens” have declared, “This is going to be the grooming of the next generation. We are trying to groom the next generation to not see the way that they just did.”

No one should be surprised that these fools are now openly telling us that they are “grooming” the next generation into the evil LGBTMYNAMEISLEGION agenda. We’ve been on this path for years. What was long (and rightly) seen as immoral—and even laughed at by numerous Hollywood leftists—and more recently something that needed to be treated and cured, is now promoted and celebrated.

And as anyone not named CornPop well knows, the Democrat Party seems to be fully on-board with every new perversion the LGBTMYNAMEISLEGION apologists can dream up. In addition to anything they can accomplish legislatively in support of this evil agenda, one of the leading Democrats in America, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, will make a promotional reappearance on RuPaul Andre Charles’ TV show, RuPaul’s Drag Race.

In describing drag, RuPaul has correctly noted that it is a “very, very political” act because it “challenges the status quo.” He further adds, “Drag says ‘I'm a shapeshifter, I do whatever the hell I want at any given time.’” Of course, “I do whatever the hell I want at any given time” is an admission that one fully embraces the godless Pagan philosophy of “Do as Thou Wilt.” This godlessness is the foundational principle of the modern left.

There is nothing more “status quo,” or put another way, there is nothing in the history of the universe with more precedent than what is a male or female, and what is marriage. In other words, if you want to wage a war on the truth, marriage and sex (the noun and the verb) would be—and in America have certainly proved to be—prime targets.

Emboldened by the wicked ruling from the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) in Obergefell, which legally redefined marriage throughout America, the left is attempting to do the same with the definition of male and female. As Matt Walsh’s recent and excellent documentary What is a Woman reveals, they are well on their way to accomplishing this. Again, the SCOTUS is aiding and abetting this evil effort.

In its 2020 ruling on Bostock v. Clayton County, the SCOTUS “unilaterally redefined” the word “sex” to mean “sexual orientation” or “gender identity.” Since that ruling, the SCOTUS has added Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson who, in her Senate confirmation hearing, refused to define what is a woman.

The disasters that such abandonment of foundational truths portend can hardly be imagined. Yes, we already have rampant disease, drug use, and despair in the homosexual community, adopted children robbed of a mother or father, men in women’s restrooms, men taking trophies (and money) from women, girls in the Boy Scouts, a Drag Demon Queen in charge of our nuclear waste, and so on. Just 20 years ago, if you warned that the evil LGBTMYNAMEISLEGION agenda was going to lead to such, many—if not most—Americans would’ve dismissed you as a hysterical, hyperbolic loon. Yet, here we are, and headed to who knows what!

The only way out of these disasters is for more and more individual Americans to decide that they want to be on the right side of the truth in these grave matters. This also means that those of us who already understand the truth here must speak and act frequently and boldly for the truth. We must not be ashamed to do so!

We need more like the few Tampa Bay Rays’ baseball players who refused to wear the LGBTMYNAMEISLEGION logos on their uniforms as their team celebrated Pervert Month. Franklin Graham rightly recognized the Rays’ players on his Facebook page when he declared,

I appreciate these Tampa Bay Rays players who said no to endorsing and celebrating sin during Saturday night’s game…Followers of Jesus Christ must love everyone, but also stand with the truth of God’s Word and share that truth with a lost and dying world.

What a shame more MLB players (and other team employees and owners) didn’t join these men in the simple gesture of not promoting sin. If you haven’t already been in the position of these Tampa Bay Rays’ players, you likely soon will be, and like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, you will have to choose.

Unlike the brave Jews who disobeyed King Nebuchadnezzar’s immoral decree, you almost certainly will not face death for standing up for what is right, but you almost certainly will face some sort of ridicule or persecution as you stand for the truth. This is especially true as you stand against the lies of the enemy on matters in the sexual realm.

Don’t be surprised at what you might face in this sin-sick world. The higher your profile, and the braver your stance, the more danger you will face. As Brett Kavanaugh recently learned—because of how the left perceives he will rule on abortion—SCOTUS justices who are on the right side of the truth now face the reality that their lives, and the lives of those near and dear to them, may be in danger from those who hate the truth. (Like homosexuality and “transgenderism,” abortion is a sexual issue.)

Marriage is the oldest institution in the history of humanity—older than God’s covenant with the nation of Israel, older than The Law, older than the church, and older than any government. Marriage is one of the earliest truths revealed by God. About the only truth older than what is marriage is what is a male and what is a female. No amount of protest, no volume of deceit, no laws of men will ever change these important, eternal truths. The sooner each of us embraces this, the better off the world will be.

With COVID, We Should’ve Learned Our Lesson on “Do-Somethingism”

After the evil perpetuated at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, in a column entitled “Don’t Surrender To Do-Somethingism On Guns,” David Harsanyi at The Federalist is mostly correct when he writes, “Law-abiding Americans have no obligation to take ownership of a madman’s actions.” The only thing I take issue with in Mr. Harsanyi’s piece is in him referring to the Ulvalde mass murderer as a “madman.”

Again, when such events occur, we must be careful not to confuse evil with mental illness. Of course, “madman” doesn’t necessarily always refer to someone who is mentally ill, however, inevitably—even among those who should know better—whenever we have a mass shooting, a frequent and near immediate default assumption is that the perpetrator was mentally ill. Perhaps the Robb Elementary School murderer was mentally ill, but we don’t yet know that, and early indications are that he did not have a history involving mental illness.

What’s more, ascribing mental illness to the Robb Elementary murderer doesn’t help Mr. Harsanyi’s case. If someone who kills another human being is “mentally ill,” then it means something should have, or could have, been done to cure them, or protect others from them. As I noted in 2018 (see above link), after the Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School massacre in Parkland, FL,

As our culture grows more and more secularized, it has become a very common practice to describe those who commit widespread acts of violence—especially if such violence involves the death of multiple human beings—as “crazy.” Some of this is tongue-in-cheek, but much of it is sincere. I believe this is the direct result of the psychiatric community attempting to redefine what is moral.

For decades we have witnessed the psychiatric community take acts that were long considered evil, or at least immoral and illegal, and deem them a “psychological disorder” that needs to be cured. It’s just good for business, I suppose.

In his essay, The Humanitarian Theory of Punishment, C.S. Lewis noted that, when it comes to crime and punishment, we too often are facing off with those who believe “that all crime is more or less pathological.” Thus, instead of the criminal “getting what he deserves”—what used to be called “justice”—we must heal or cure him, and, as Lewis puts it, “punishment becomes therapeutic.”

Additionally, when we refuse to simply call evil what it is, lawmakers—especially, but not exclusively, Democrats—feel emboldened to “do something” to “fix” the problem. After all, when politicians can paint themselves as part of “the solution,” it makes re-election more likely. If we learned anything from COVID-19, this should have been the lesson!

Shortly after COVID-19 entered the U.S., countless politicians across America were all too eager to act. Not that our government should have done nothing, however, as American leftists—as well as those throughout the world—well demonstrated, for most of us, their “cure” was indeed far worse than the disease.

Led by Anthony Fauci—one of the leading prophets of scientism of our time—and his ilk, millions of American individuals, and hundreds-of-thousands of American businesses, churches, and schools were duped into following—or worse: enthusiastically embracing—the “corona-communism” of the champions of Big Government in America.

The longer the charade played out, the more it became clear—as the data in schools, professional sports,  airplanes, Antarctic research stations, and the like revealed—that almost everything we did to “slow the spread,” including the “six feet” nonsense, was worthless and unnecessary. This is especially true of useless masks and foolish lockdowns.

These two highly destructive measures seemed—until the evil notion of vaccine mandates came along—to be the favorite of “do-somethingism” apologists throughout America and the world. For well over two years now, far too many Americans have lived under democrats devastating “do-somethingism” in the name of “public safety.” This is in spite of the mountains of evidence that point to the ineffectiveness of masks and lockdowns when it comes to controlling the spread of COVID-19.

Nevertheless, those beholden the Covid Cartel are still pushing masking and the like. This is true even in schools, where science has well demonstrated mandatory masking the most unnecessary, as well as the most destructive. It just goes to show that, once “do-somethingism” takes hold, it’s hard to get rid of!

If so many Americans weren’t susceptible to “do-somethingism,” the left wouldn’t continuously try—and often succeed with—it. And if they can’t accomplish their do-something wish list via legislation or executive order, the American left has often been able to rely on like-minded judges in U.S. courts. Tragically, many Americans simply want to be mothered, and the left is only too happy to play such a role.

The left’s “do-somethingism” on COVID-19 has destroyed countless lives and livelihoods. The damage is still being measured, and worse, still happening! If the American left can “do-something” to get rid of guns (or ammunition) in the U.S., they absolutely will. As numerous nations have proved, America has remained America largely because of the Second Amendment.

Recently, the idea that America needs to be “fundamentally transformed” has reached the highest levels of the left. The quickest way for this to happen would be to take guns from law-abiding Americans. We largely surrendered to "do-somethingism" on COVID, we should never make that mistake with guns.
