| I was born in 1969 to Edsel and Carolyn Thomas and have lived all my life in Northeast Georgia. I am originally from White County, where I graduated from high school and lived for the first twenty-plus years of my life. (Most of my family and much of my wife’s family live in White County.) I graduated from North Georgia College in 1992 with an undergraduate degree in physics. I started teaching mathematics at Gainesville High School in Hall County Georgia in 1993. I coached football and track the first five years I was at GHS. I remained at GHS until 1999. I completed my MEd in mathematics from North Georgia College in 1994. I completed my EdS in mathematics from the University of Georgia in 1997. I met my wife Michelle in 1997 and we married in early 1998. I taught mathematics at Riverside Military Academy (a private school) from 2001 until 2008. I have now returned to the public schools to continue teaching mathematics. Michelle and I have 4 beautiful children (three boys and one girl): Caleb, born 2002; Jesse, born 2004; Caroline born 2006; and Noah born in 2008. We currently reside in the North Hall area. I have been writing opinion columns since 2001.
